A growing local event that cultivates a vibrant literary arts community in the Tahoe-Truckee region and beyond.
Branding
I developed the initial brand identity for the Tahoe Literary Festival, establishing a visual foundation for its first year and future growth.
Challenge
The identity needed to feel fun and engaging while reflecting both the literary arts and the unique character of the Lake Tahoe region. It also needed to be flexible and adaptable for evolving themes, including the inaugural theme, “Sense of Place.”
Solution
The brand combines simple, hand-drawn elements with a color palette inspired by Lake Tahoe, creating a visual connection to the region. A mix of sans serif typography for clarity and script for a more playful tone adds balance and personality. The system was designed to be flexible, allowing imagery, color, and content to evolve while maintaining a consistent identity across festival materials, including the Truckee Literary Crawl.

We designed and built a website for the Tahoe Literary Festival during its second year, establishing a central hub for the festival and its growing set of events.
Challenge
The site needed to represent the festival as an overarching entity while also supporting individual events like the Truckee Literary Crawl and future programming. It also had to be clear and easy to navigate, while being simple enough for multiple contributors without design experience to update and maintain.
Solution
The website was structured into clear, intuitive sections that organize events under the larger festival umbrella. A clean, straightforward design and flexible framework make it easy to navigate and allow contributors to make updates confidently, ensuring the site can grow alongside the festival.
